Rescued, renewed and ready to rehome. Bromeliads get chucked out of retail outlets when they have finished flowering; but it is relatively straight-forward to grow them on until they are ready for the next one.

Coming from the same family as air plants, each funnel of leaves tends to produce one flower and then stop. Around the base of this funnel of leaves appear new plantlets which will produce the flowers of the future. The original leaves will often last a considerable time before fading, so don’t believe people when they insist that plants will drop dead after flowering.
